SMP Scalp Scar Concealment ★ Rockhampton

SMP Scalp Scar Correction at Man Thing Rockhampton

My name is Andrew Thompson. I am a licenced SMP Technician and will perform your Scalp Scar Concealment treatment.

Camouflage your Scalp Scars

Scalp Scar Concealment uses the same SMP base principles to a full hairline tattoo.

Unlike SMP though, instead of trying to mimic individual hair shafts, I'm going to imitate skin.

Call me on 4926 7778 or 0422 276 202 if you have any questions or to make a booking. You can also book online.

Have a brilliant day,

How does Scalp Scar Concealment differ from a full hair tattoo?

Scalp Scar Concealment uses the same SMP base principles to a full hairline tattoo.

But rather than trying to mimic individual hair shafts, this time, I'm going to imitate skin.

Placing each dot extremely close to its neighbour, and using a pale shade of ink and fine needle, I'll in-fill your scar and blend it with surrounding undamaged skin.

Are you qualified to perform scalp scar concealment treatments?

Man Thing, Rockhampton holds an Higher Risk Personal Appearance Licence

Yes. I have Master Class Certification gained under SMP pioneer and trainer, Aaron Grundy before his retirement.

I also hold HLTINF005 Maintain Infection Control for Skin Penetration Treatments.

Finally, Man Thing was inspected for compliance by Rockhampton Regional Council (RRC) environmental health office, who subsequently issued us with a Higher Risk Personal Appearance Licence.

These three processes are required before you can legally provide SMP Scalp Scar Concealment treatments in Queensland.

Does scalp scar concealment hurt?

The pain is minimal and quite bearable. People typically compare it to a mild mosquito bite.

📖   💲   📆

How many sessions do I need?

One session is often enough. It will depend on how well the damaged scar tissue holds the ink.

I like to physically review the result a fortnight later to see if a second session is needed.

What skin colour is best for concealing scalp scars?

Camouflaging scalp scar tissue works with any skin colour.

What could prevent me having a treatment?

These factors will limit or restrict your ability to receive a scalp scar treatment:

  • Dandruff or overly dry scalp. See your GP or chemist for a treatment to moisten your scalp 2 weeks before your fist SMP session.
  • Auto immune diseases.
  • Blood-borne diseases, e.g. HIV, AIDS, Hepatitis C.
  • Type 1 Diabetes.
  • Heart disorders.
  • Keloid and hypertrophic scarring.
  • Blood thinners: Warfarin is contraindicated. Rivaroxaban (Xarelto) users should ask their GP if it's OK to pause taking their dose for a 96 hour period i.e. two days each side of their SMP treatment.
  • Skin cancer.
  • Topical hair solutions, steroid injections and micro-needling of the scalp must be discontinued during your course of sessions.
  • Recent hair transplant procedures: If under 6 months, you will need to provide a letter from the practitioner who performed the procedure giving us clearance to perform SMP.

What aftercare do you recommend after my scalp scar treatment?

Until all pinkness and inflammation has subsided:

  • Avoid wetting the treated area unnecessarily.
  • When you shower, gently wipe with lukewarm water. Don't scrub. Apply your Bepanthen lotion.
  • Do not apply sunscreen, topical creams, sprays etc. Anything else might inflame your skin, cause an infection, or dilute the ink pigment.
  • Avoid perspiration.
  • If scabbing occurs, do not pick at it. Allow it to fall off naturally.
  • Avoid direct sunlight and other strong sources of UV.
  • Do not let animals lick the treated area.
  • Vitally, if pinkness or inflammation extends beyond a few days, contact me before trying any other solution.
