Ultrasound Fat Cavitation is designed to help reduce those lingering bulges that have stopped you achieving the ideal body definition you're aiming for.
This body sculpting treatment is time-proven, non-invasive, and virtually pain-free. It is the perfect option if you don't like the idea of having your fat removed by freezing or sucked out by liposuction.
Ultrasound Fat Cavitation works by sending specific sound waves through your skin that targets fat cells. The sound causes cavitation, a buildup of pressure inside the fat cell until its membrane weakens and breaks down. The waste then passes out of your body harmlessly through your normal lymphatic and urine waste processes, and some is also converted to energy.
Treatments are designed for people who exercise and manage their dietary intake. It compliments your existing efforts.

Tips & tricks for Ultrasound Fat Cavitation
- During treatment, you cannot use electronic equipment, e.g. ear pods, or mobile phones, as they will interfere with the ultrasound equipment. While my machine instantly cuts out, yours won't, and there is a very good chance that its circuitry will fry. My machine is bigger - It will definitely win 😝
- It is not uncommon for stool movements to be oily in the days that follow, or for urine to have an unusual smell as excess waste leaves the body. It is absolutely vital to keep water intake high during the days following treatment to help flush your system.
- Reduce intake of simple carbohydrates so they don't compete with those produced by the treatment. Simple carbohydrates include sugar, bread, buns, most sweet fruit, white rice, and pasta.
- Increase protein intake but not at the cost of vegetables.
- If you experience any mild swelling or discomfort in the treated area, apply cold packs for 10-15 minutes every hour for the next four hours.
- Consume two litres of water each day, more with exercise.
- Inform your Therapist if you begin any new medications, including the pill, topical creams,
and natural supplements, or if you are beginning to plan for having a child, or if you are diagnosed with any disease, syndrome, or skin
disorder, which you have not previously informed us about.
What's the difference between Body Sculpting and Ultrasound Fat Cavitation?
'Body Sculpting' and 'Body Contouring' are catch-all terms used in the industry, and by consumers, to describe all sorts of different technology designed to contour your body in one way or another, including ultrasound fat cavitation, cryolysis, and liposuction.
The actual body sculpting treatment performed at Man Thing is Ultrasound Fat Cavitation, sometimes combined with Multipolar Radio Frequency (MRF). That's quite a mouthful, which is why everyone refers to it as body sculpting.
How does Ultrasound Body Sculpting work?
Soundwaves break down the bonds that form between fat cells. The resulting byproduct is expelled from the body through its normal waste processes, and some is also converted to energy.
What results can I anticipate from this treatment?
First, let me say that this is not a magic bullet. You will not be leaving here having shed kilograms of fat. Ultrasound Body Sculpting is non-invasive and works with your body's own waste removal systems. We don't freeze chunks of fat or suck it out either.
You will notice some amount of difference on the day but if you follow the post-treatment advice, results will become more apparent over the days that follow. Subsequent treatments will yield similar results.
What will I experience during the treatment?
During treatment, you will experience varying degrees of high pitched sound, as ultrasound waves pass through your body and bounce harmlessly off bone and cartillage. This sound is only audible to you, not to the therapist. You will also feel warmth in the treated areas, however this should not be excessive at any time.
The treatment is done in two stages, which you will notice by the different sounds produced. The first stage targets deeper fat, and the second stage targets superficial fat, providing better definition.
What after-care will optimise my results from an Ultrasound Fat Cavitation treatment?
Ideally, you should exercise and drink plenty of water afterwards so that the destabilised fat doesn't reform and resettle.
Think of the process in simple terms. Fat and sound waves. If you put a tub of butter in the microwave and heat it, the butter destabilises into liquid. If you leave it to sit however, it solidifies again.
The same applies to this treatment, and that's why cardiovascular exercise and water are vital.
Cardio and light-weighted resistance afterwards serves two purposes; to burn off the released carbohydrates, and to encourage contraction and expansion of lymphatic vessels to channel out waste. Meanwhile, the water acts to thin that waste and to hasten its removal from the body through the urine.
How many treatments will I need?
Everyone's body shape and goals are different, so there is no set number of treatments, but you should see a subtle difference after your first session. If you follow the exercise and hydration advice above, you should also notice ongoing improvements over the next few days to a week.
Should I take pain killers or use numbing cream before my Body Sculpting treatment?
Definitely DO NOT take any form of pain suppressant before your body sculpting treatment. There is no need and for pain relief as it doesn't hurt. If I suspect that a client is on pain meds or has been drinking alcohol, I will stop the treatment.
I've had ultrasound for radiology procedures. How is ultrasound fat cavitation different?
Just as light waves have different applications based on the frequency used - laser, ultra-violet, infra red etc, so do sound waves. Ultrasound refers to frequencies above 20,000 Hz, beyond the range of human hearing, hence its name. Some common uses of sound are:
- 20 Hz to 20,000 Hz - Acoustic Sound, or normal hearing range;
- 30,000 Hz to 40,000 Hz - Ultrasound Fat Cavitation;
- 250,000 Hz to 2,000,000 Hz - Diagnostic equipment, MRI, body scans etc;
- 1,000,000 to 5,000,000 Hz - HIFU (High Intensity Focused Ultrasound) used for ablating gall stones and tumours;
- 300,000,000 to 300,000,000,000 Hz - Microwave frequencies.
My child is obese. How old do they have to be to have a treatment?
How often can I come for an Ultrasound Fat Cavitation treatment?
Allow 72 hours for waste from the treatment to be expelled from you body before performing follow up treatments. We don't want to put undue strain on your body's waste disposal systems.
What are the side effects of Ultrasound Fat Cavitation?
You can go about your normal activities straight away. You may continue to experience a residual buzzing or ringing sound in your ears for up to 24 hours. Skin trauma is
rare, however the area treated may retain warmth for a few hours afterwards.
My last place took measurements all over my body. Should I bring my chart?
No, it's just a feel-good thing and serves no purpose to treatment. Some places take measurements, which are designed to show you how much size you lost during treatment so you get all excited and rebook.
The reality is that you could simply have a remedial massage and your body dimensions will temporarily change. Results are more noticeable over the days and weeks that follow.
That said, if you would like me take measurements for your chart, I'm happy to do so.
I eat too much and I don't exercise. Will Ultrasound Fat Cavitation make me thin?
The treatment is designed for people with at least a fair diet and regular exercise. If your caloric intake continues to exceed your daily expenditure, any apparent losses will be short-lived.
You say to exercise after. Will taking a class after treatment help?
Yes, definitely. Some of the waste product from your body sculpting treatment will convert to energy-ready fats, similar to being in a keto-burning state, so go for it and you will certainly reap results.
Remember to always exercise within your capabilities, and take extra water to help flush out any toxins from the treatments. If you feel your energy levels crashing, slow down - You've burnt all your available carbs.
If you find that your pee is a bit smelly after, that's perfectly fine. It's just your lymphatic system doing its job. Drink some more water to keep the lymph moving freely.
Will fasting on the day of treatment help?
Definitely but remember to hydrate and don't overdo the cardio to the point of exhaustion. Go into keto burn by all means, but do a resistance workout instead.
I get body wraps to strip my fat but the results only last a day. What's the go?
Body wraps are designed to detoxify and help eradicate waste from superficial cells through compression.
Wraps may have a temporary slimming effect however this is wholly due to dehydration of cells, and those cells will plump up again as soon as you take fluids into your body.
If you need to lose a few centimetres for a photo shoot, sure, but it's only temporary. They will be back once you re-hydrate.
You say not to exceed my caloric intake. I don't want to count calories.
You don't have to go to extremes. Just be aware of what you put in your mouth. At the end of the day, losing weight is simple mathematics and you can't cheat the system.
To lose existing fat, the rule for everyone is the same - Eat no more food than your body can use.
What might prevent me having an Ultrasound Fat Cavitation treatment?
The following contraindications will prevent treatment:
- Cancer: Cancer cells travel via the lymphatic system, as does waste produced by Ultrasound Cavitation. A treatment presents an unacceptable risk of helping to move cancer cells.
- Cold or flu symptoms or fever: Ultrasound Cavitation releases toxins from the body via the
lymphatic system, and treatments can exacerbate flu symptoms which also leave the body the same way.
- Swollen lymph nodes: Treatments cannot be performed in areas where lymph nodes are swollen, infected, or not draining properly.
- Oedema: Oedema or localised swelling of limbs indicates poor lymphatic flow. Treatments are not designed to alleviate oedema and may in fact exacerbate the condition.
- Active Infections & Immunosuppression: These factors compromise the healing ability of the body, and Ultrasound Cavitation should not be attempted until the infection or deficiency is cleared.
- Liver, Kidney, or Heart Disease: Compromises the ability of the body to recover from treatments.
- Severe hypertension, hyperlipidaemia, diabetes mellitus, or poor circulation of blood and lymph.
- Pregnancy: Sound waves generated by the treatment will very likely harm an unborn child's hearing and may also result in compromising its immune system.
- Breastfeeding: As mother's milk draws nutrients from the body, there is an unacceptable degree of risk that toxins may pass into the milk and therefore be ingested by a nursing child.
- Lymph nodes and joints cannot be treated.
- The face and neck cannot be treated.
- Menstruation: During a period, the abdomen cannot be treated however other areas can be.
- Metal Implants: People who have metal implanted anywhere in their bodies, such as bone pins or pace makers cannot receive a treatment.
- Skin allergies or inflammation: Areas with obvious signs of inflammation cannot be treated.
- Minors: Due to the changing hormonal and fat deposits in the growing body during puberty, we do not treat clients under 18 years of age with Ultrasound Body Sculpting.
