The "Aussie Surf Club" slideshow features 18 photos of male and female lifeguards at a local surf club somewhere on the tropical coast of Queensland, Australia. The series came about while I created the perfect cover photo for my men's waxing service.
Men's waxing is a very diverse demographic, so it was important for me to make this series as inclusive as possible without being obvious. I wanted an image that could be interpreted as straight or gay, depending on the inclinations of the viewer. This necessitated at least two men and a woman in every shot, and I think that's worked well.
The surf club's colours are green and gold. The men wear relatively modest Speedo-style togs and the women wear bikinis of various styles.
While the photos can be taken at face value, several do subtly convey sexual energy or tension between the models, which makes me smile.
