"Butterfly Cascades" is a tranquil video reel of photos presented without music or distraction, of athletic young men, set in a rainforest mountain stream. There are 18 photos in the series, which came to life when I sought to create the perfect header image for my website's search page.
To that end, and unafraid to be slightly contentious, I opted to use a young model. I'll be honest; barely legal was the goal.
My reason in this case was that the notion of a beautiful wide-eyed youth exploring the wonders of nature is such a magnificent trope. It evokes excitement and purity, with something new around every corner. For this project, it was perfect.
Thus, each photo in the series features a handsome young man sitting or standing in a stream. By chance, it's that one day each Spring when butterflies spawn en masse and fill the air. Meanwhile, our athletic lads, dressed in swim trunks and Speedos look upon the scene in wonderment.
