The first thing to understand is that most guys who wax aren't gym jocks, models, or athletes. They are in fact, just normal guys like you and me.

What motivates men to get waxed?
There are several common factors that motivate men to start waxing. For most, it becomes part of their monthly routine, alongside other new lifestyle behaviours such as exercising, eating properly, and getting skin checks.
Comfort
Comfort is a big reason for waxing. Getting rid of excess body hair just makes you feel less icky. You also feel cooler and stink less.
For men motivated by comfort, back hair is the most popular area to have waxed, followed by butt cracks, pubic hair, ears, and nostrils.
Hygiene
For guys motivated by hygiene, genitals and butt cracks are the two big areas they keep tidy. The sweat and stench that can accumulate in your jocks after a long day here in the tropics, is not fun.
If you have a hairy bum, I don't need to tell you what a chore it can be to keep clean. And then there's the fear of leaving the dreaded GT Stripes on your undies.
Pubic hair and butt crack waxing will change your life, and maybe even save your marriage. 🙂
The simple pleasures of not being constantly moist downstairs, and not using a whole roll of toilet paper every time you go to the loo, are bliss.
Just a side note while on the subject, for guys who have a tendency to develop pilonidal cysts in the top of their butt crease, I recommend IPL pubic hair removal instead of waxing.
Inflammation
Another comfort-related trigger for guys to seek out a waxing therapist, is skin inflammation from shaving or depilatory creams. Common reactions are rashes, fungal infections, and ingrown hairs.
Skin rashes are a big issue for cyclists, runners, and other athletes who wear tight clothing. Guys who are overweight or obese can also have similar problems due to excessive chaffing.
Waxing your hair instead of using razors or lotions definitely proves less irritating to your skin.
Puberty
Let's not forget teenage boys. Sudden and excessive hair growth at puberty can be a shock. Crazy hair growth is just another factor over which they have little control.
That said though, tween and teen youths are typically self-conscious of their bodies. Being waxed by a stranger isn't something they generally do, opting instead for a solution they can try in private like shaving.
Usually by their late teens, I start to see young men coming in for waxing.
Reinvention
Perhaps the biggest driver for men to try waxing, is reinvention. For whatever reasons, a man might find himself at a new fork in his life and decide to try something new.
Men on this trajectory are often searching for ways to improve their perceived shortcomings - self-esteem, self-respect, confidence, and so on. Waxing is a simple tool to help advance those objectives, given how easily it can improve a man's appearance.
For these men, waxing might also be part of their physical self-improvement program. Coupled with improvements to diet and exercise, their aim is to love who they see in the mirror.
Intimacy
Intimacy can be a simple or complex motivation for waxing, depending on the man's reasons for getting it done. A few factors that might encourage a man to wax for intimacy are:
- He feels more attractive when he's smooth
- He likes the way his genitals feel during sex
- He hopes to spice things up with his partner
- He has sexual insecurities and wants to boost his self-esteem
- His partner prefers him hairless
- He hopes that if he waxes, his partner will be encouraged to do the same
- He hopes that being hairless will lead to sex
- He uses outfits or toys that are complemented when hairless
